King R. Lee III
CEO
Mr. Lee is a seasoned executive who brings over thirty years of experience as a CEO in the computer technology industry as well as the highly competitive consumer market place. He has spent the last thirteen years doing turnarounds including serving as interim CEO/ President of Quarterdeck Corporation (NASDAQ:QDEK), a leading developer of PC helpware software. He successfully led the restructuring of Quarterdeck's worldwide operations, leading to an increase in the company's market cap from under $50 million to over $500 million. He returned again to the company to successfully lead another restructuring and the subsequent sale of the company to Symantec (NASDAQ:SYMC). During the same period he also co-founded and served as the CEO of Wynd Communications, a pioneer in wireless email. It was subsequently sold to GoAmerica (NASDAQ:GOAM). He previously served as CEO of the XTree Company, a publisher of utility software. The company's revenues grew 1,700 percent during his tenure and was sold to Central Point Software which was subsequently acquired by Symantec (NASDAQ: SYMC). He also served as the CEO of the Marketing Resource Group, a sales and marketing management company whose client portfolio included Lockheed Martin, Excelo Corp. and Titan Technologies. Early on in his career, he held management positions with General Mills, Inc. (NYSE:GIS) and Lever Brothers, Inc. (NYSE:UL). Mr. Lee currently serves on the board of Visto Corporation. Historically, Mr. Lee has served on a number of boards both public and private.
David Russian
CFO
David Russian is Chief Financial Officer of General LED, an innovative developer of high-reliability, low-energy lighting technologies and products. David is responsible for worldwide financial reporting, tax planning and treasury activities. David has been Chief Financial Officer of four NASDAQ listed companies over the last 20 years and has considerable experience starting up companies. David’s career started with Price Waterhouse where he earned his CPA license. During the 80’s David held various financial executive positions including Vice President, Controller and Treasurer of Ashton Tate, the third largest microcomputer software company in world at that time. David holds a Bachelors of Science in Accounting from San Diego State University.
Bryan Vincent, Ph.D.
CTO
J. Bryan Vincent is co-founder and CTO of General LED and a pioneer in solid state lighting and printed electronics. Dr. Vincent is responsible for technology development and innovation across all of General LED’s holdings. Prior to founding General LED, Vincent was a chief scientist and program manager in the Advanced Electronic Materials division of The Dow Chemical Company. While at Dow, Dr. Vincent developed and commercialized a number of products, including a novel e-paper technology which was venture funded and spun out as a stand-alone business. Dr. Vincent hold a number of patents across multiple technology fields and is a leader in development of next generation lighting, micro-LED, and flexible display technology. He holds a BS in Chemistry from Angelo State University and a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry / Material Science from Texas A&M University.
Bill Ratcliffe
Vice President, Research
Bill Ratcliffe is Vice President of Research and co-founder of General LED. Bill holds more than twenty US and International patents and applications. These intellectual properties are an essential component of AgiLight and General LED design,development and manufacturing programs in the fields of solid state lighting and display applications. Bill has more than forty years of experience in all aspects of light-emitting diode (LED) technologies, beginning with the establishment of a cooperative R&D program with the Canadian Defense Research Board which led to the development and manufacture of the Bowmar Brain, the world’s first handheld calculator, with an LED display. Bill has held senior management positions with corporations including Bendix and Northern Telecom . Bill received his university education in Montreal at the Montreal Technical Institute and the George Williams University.
Bob Kimball
Senior Vice President, Marketing
Bob Kimball is Senior Vice President of Marketing for GeneralLED, Inc. Mr. Kimball manages General LED’s corporate marketing and communications, and guides the development of new business ventures. He was previously President and CEO of Meca Communications, San Luis Obispo, Calif., where he pioneered branded instant communications and development of the global portal www.mecca.com. Previously Bob has served as President/CEO for venture-backed software and internet companies including Televoke, Inc., Alliance Manufacturing Sofware, and Adaptiv Software. Bob’s business management career grew with Hewlett-Packard, Ashton-Tate and XTree Company after working as an electronics design engineer in the aerospace industry. He holds a BSEE from UC Berkeley and an MBA in Marketing from the Anderson School at UCLA.
Rick Nelson
Vice President, Architectural Products
Richard "Rick" Nelson leads the Architectural Lighting Group of General LED. Prior to joining General LED, Rick was vice president of marketing and sales for System Services, Inc. a rapidly growing Dallas based IT solutions provider. Previously he served as Executive V.P. for Dent Zone Intl., a leading supplier of innovative automotive aftermarket services. Prior to that, he served as President of RG America, Inc., a publicly traded corporation, providing commercial building and storm restoration services. Before joining RG America, Rick served 10 years as an executive at WebLink Wireless as VP Marketing, VP Business Development, Sr. VP of Sales and President of the International PageMart division where drove company growth from startup to over $300MM in revenues. Known as a corporate innovator, Rick co-created the well-known Sabre Travel Reservations System in his 20 year tenure at American Airlines, during which he also served as Manager of Interline Sales and creator and VP Marketing of the American Eagle division. Rick has a lifetime passion for lighting systems and design including work in off-Broadway theater and commercial venues. Rick received his B.A., Political Science from Northwestern University and his MBA from the University of Dallas.
Michael Mahan
Vice President, Business Development
Mr. Mahan is the VP of Business Development for General LED responsible for supporting commercial partnerships and strategic alliances across three business operations, while driving commercial efforts in MicroSystems. Mr. Mahan’s industry knowledge is complemented with business skills and background that includes 27 years experience in technology related enterprise starting in Silicon Valley in 1980 with General Electric (GE) Battery Business Department. GE’s battery business was responsible for providing over 50% of the global supply of rechargeable batteries for OEM products. Key responsibilities have focused in sales, business development, marketing, operations and executive management. Industry experience crosses key disciplines in emerging energy technology and embedded micro-electronics. Mr. Mahan is a respected industry expert presenting papers and presentations at global conferences and symposiums focused on flexible printed electronics. Michael’s pioneering efforts have established companies such as Identita and Solicore as the recognized leaders of embedded micro-electronics solutions and applications such as smartcards, RFID, and micro medical devices. Mr. Mahan has served as a board member and officer of both public and private corporations.
